Pastor's Letter or the February 21, 2021 Bulletin

We pray that the current trends, especially locally, regarding COVID-19 continue. At last report, as of Thursday, February 18th, we have not had any new hospitalizations locally since February 4th.  May the Lord bless us with a truly healthy springtime – with a thaw hopefully happening soon.

One of the devotions that has always been very meaningful to me are the Stations of the Cross.  We will have at least two times each week when we will have scheduled Stations of the Cross: Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul in Lore City and on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. at St. Benedict.  Feel free to pray them on your own at times when we have the church buildings open.  Sometime praying them at your own pace can give you time to look at the expressions and other details on the artwork of each Station.

Please note that the permanent deacon formation program for our Diocese of Steubenville will be holding a day of introduction for prospective new candidates on Saturday, March 27th. We will be hosting that event at Sts. Peter & Paul in Lore City.  Please keep that event in prayer and ask our Lord to clarify that potential calling for members of our parish here in Guernsey County.  From having seminarians and transitional deacons at our parish, I have grown in appreciating the diaconal ministry even more and that’s a whole facet of ministry that could be of great benefit for us in Guernsey County.

Just a very preliminary notice that we are beginning plans for a new picture directory.  The photo sessions would be in April; hopefully by then we will be in an even better situation with regards to the coronavirus.  We also will have options for quicker updates to the directory if some photos are taken or submitted later.  Indeed, more on this in the near future.

May the Lord continue to bless us with joy and peace as disciples of Jesus and to help us to be always ready for the gift of eternal life in Heaven!
