In the monthly packets of offering envelopes you have probably seen the one for All Souls Day. On that envelope there are several blank lines for names. Those are for names of loved ones who have died who you would like to pray for in a special way this month. Having both All Saints Day and All Souls Day in November is the key month for remembrance. As we have done in the past, during this month of November we will gather those envelopes and place them on the altar.
If you have already utilized that envelope without having written names on it you may write names on a 3 x 5 card, or on a small envelope (if you would like to include an All Souls Day offering), and return them to the offering boxes or parish office and we will try to check the boxes daily and add them to the envelopes on the altar.
Thank you for your participation in the Knight of Columbus ultrasound machines campaign for purchasing two new machines. We have received close to $4,000 in donations from two weeks of that campaign simply in Christ Our Light Parish donations. With pledges from other K of C councils that means one of the machines is basically paid for and we’re starting to collect for the second machine!
On a related note, next weekend we will have a representative from an international Catholic missionary and outreach organization called “Cross Catholic” visiting our parish. Their representative is Fr. John Fischer. He is a priest from a religious community called the Comboni Missionaries. He is living and serving in the Cincinnati area now, but previously served as a missionary in Kenya for many years. Fr. Fischer will be able to give us a firsthand understanding about what is helping the Cross Catholic organization’s ministry to be so effective.
May the Lord continue to bless us with joy and peace as disciples of Jesus and to help us to be always ready for the gift of eternal life!
