Pastor's Letter for the December 5, 2021 Bulletin

Having participated in this past Wednesday’s rehearsal for the Festival of Carols, I am very much looking forward to this event, scheduled for today, Sunday, December 5th at 3:00 p.m. in St. Benedict Church.  As I will mention at the very beginning of the program, this will be an opportunity both for us to offer our hearts and friendship to the members of St. Elisabeth Parish in Caracol, Haiti, and for us to get to know them better.  In addition to the inspiring array of musical offerings our parishioners and community members have been preparing, we will have a video sent to us by the people of St. Elisabeth Parish.

If you are not able to attend the event in person, we have been trying to bolster access to it through our parish’s Facebook page. You should be able to watch the event livestreamed at our Facebook page or – should we have any technical difficulties with the livestream – recorded and then posted soon afterward.

As mentioned before, please note that instead of having an Advent Reconciliation Service this year, we are planning to have expanded times for confession, including three Tuesday evenings, December 7th, 14th and 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Church. Please note that when we have the Holy Hour on the 4th Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., I usually plan to be available for confessions at that time as well. Hopefully we will have a communal reconciliation service in Lent.

The design meeting for our new parish picture directory planned for this past Monday was postponed to this upcoming Tuesday afternoon.  I will let you know how that meeting goes both regarding the timeline for the publication of the directories and for follow up on the shockingly high prices.

Please mark your calendars for Christmas Mass times, especially noting the times at Sts. Peter & Paul in Lore City: at 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day. We will also have four Christmas Masses at St. Benedict in Cambridge: 5:00 p.m. & 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 8:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day.

May Our Lord Jesus Christ help us to experience the transforming power of His mercy as He helps us to be always ready for the gift of eternal life in Heaven!
