Pastor’s Letter for the October 27, 2019 bulletin
Please note the times for the All Saints Day Masses this week. We are planning a Mass on October 31st at 7:00 p.m. That should accommodate those who need to stay closer to home during the Trick or Treat times. And, we have 3 Masses scheduled for November 1st itself, at 8:35 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at St. Benedict and 7:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul. May the Lord provide graces of a positive witness to holiness to contrast the glorification of evil that we see around us. May we benefit from being “surrounded by a cloud of witnesses” as the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews describes our relationship with the saints who have gone before us (Hebrews 12:1)!
Thank you to all who have participated in the 2019 Diocesan Parish/Share Campaign (a.k.a. DPSC). We are still a bit short of meeting our goal for this year. I know that some parishioners contribute toward the end of the year for tax purposes. So, again, thank you in advance. If you are not familiar with how the funds are spent for the diocesan level outreaches, see the pamphlets in the pews. We as a parish benefited from these funds as part of Fr. Jonas’ salary while he served as our Parochial Vicar (associate pastor) came from the DPSC funds. Please feel free to speak with me personally if you have other questions or concerns about this annual campaign.
As mentioned before, I am planning to lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land & Egypt in October 2020. Our tour conductors are from Catholic families from Bethlehem and the tour is fairly comprehensive to include the northern area around the Sea of Galilee and Nazareth, the southern area including Jerusalem and Bethlehem as well as going to Mt. Sinai and Egypt. There will be a couple of information meetings on the weekend of November 9th & 10th. You can see the brochures on the bulletin boards, in the Marian Room and on the back table at Sts. Peter & Paul in Lore City as well as speaking with me personally for more details.
May the Lord help us to grow in our faith together, ever more joyfully, always ready for the gift of eternal life!
