It seems that so many of our parish events here in this month of October are centered on food! I am grateful for the generosity of so many in helping the parish to have this social-support and fellowship dimension.
These events have ranged from the annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser for St. Benedict School this past Thursday, to the Salad Luncheon in a couple of weeks to the first-ever Oktoberfest Hog Roast that the Knights of Columbus are organizing this coming Saturday, October 22nd at the Grove near Pleasant City.
Additionally, there are both the regular and occasional events such as the Sunday morning K of C Breakfasts on the 3rd Sunday of the month during the school year and the many volunteers who step in and assist when we have funeral luncheons both at St. Benedict and Sts. Peter & Paul. Additional volunteers are always appreciated for these events.
Thank you, also, to all who participated in the Courthouse Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 15th. This has been inspired in part by the miraculous and prophetic events in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. This provided a tremendous opportunity to pray for our world, country and county especially during this election year. May we be always grateful that we can pray as a community of faith in such a public venue.
Please note that during this month of October we remember the gift of the Rosary as a foundational way of praying. The Rosary is being prayed before each of the Sunday Masses at Sts. Peter & Paul with a box available for including various intentions as well. Each month throughout the year, typically the 3rd Sunday of each month, the Rosary has been prayed before all of the Masses – our “Rosary Sundays.” This is a great way to help us as a community to enter into Mass focused both on the needs of our hearts and lives and on how Our Lord Jesus responds to our needs.
May the Lord help us all to journey together ever more joyfully, always ready for the gift of eternal life.
